HANDS AROUND PACIFIC.
.TO CHECK ASIAN INFLOW. WASHINGTON, December 7. A representative of the Australian Press Association interviewed Mr. H. C. Lodge on the subject of his recent statement concerning the co-operation of Canada, Australia, and New Zealand with the United States regarding Asiatic immigration. Mr. Lodge said that it was merely a general statement of the policy which be favoured, and the importance of which he thought could not be over-estimated. ' "I believe," he said, "that such co-operation may be obtained, but I have not yet considered or attempted to work out the details. The question is one which I hope will engage the attention of the new Congress and the new Administration. I am not prepared this time to go any further into the details of that very important subject."
Mr. Mark Sheldon, Australian Trade Commissioner, commenting on the interview, said: " I learn of this with pleasure. It will no doubt give satisfaction throughout the British Empire, and the more of these understandings with, the United States on this and any other matters the better pleased will every member of the Empire be. —A. and N.Z.
