But if Fergus Hume lias been fortunate in his selection of a title, he lives up to it in the thrilling interest of the story, that is as good as anything that this favourite writer has us since he first jumped into fame with that classic of sensational fiction

The novel concerns itself with the succession to Beysham Abbey, and the writer keeps the reader in a constant mental turmoil as to the author and meaning of the mysterious events with which the historic dark avenue is associated. Xe\t Saturday you will have the opportunity of reading the first instalment, and you are particularly advised not to overlook "The Dark Avenue.'
