RIFLE SHOOTING.
AKAKANA CLUB. The cDinmiitee of ihe Akarara Defence Rifle Club is making the club competitions of more than local interest this season, by arraniiUig a series of :«ims - matches with other rifle eluhs of the Dominion. The rir.-t of these will take place uexi Saturday afternoon, when rhe Akaraua l.'lnb, lirlnp: at 'Penrose, will compete against the Opakl ('1111). tiring at Masterton. Tbe match will consist, of ten s-hots at WiO and tlui) yards, and as the Opykl men nave a wcll-earued reputation for long-range work, there arc not a few who prophecy defeat for t.'.e .liii-klauders.
