STORAGE OF WOOL.
ROOM FOR A MILLION BALES.
LONDON, December 4
The I'ort of London Authority, together with the up-town warehouse keepers, have arranged aggregate storage in London for about 1,1)00,000 bales of wool, which compares with an average storage for about :>riO,ooo bales before the war. It is hoped that this will prove ample storage fur the trade, but if required, the Port of Jxmdon Authority is prepared also to store wool in the open, properly dunnaged and protected with tarpaulins to the satisfaction of the underwriters. An extra premium against the risk of damage hy rain of 2/0 per cent per month is to be declared if open storage is used.
'JTlie Australasian Press Association learns that this arrangement should go far toward meeting the difficulty arising from the new clause in Australian bills of lading, by which shipowners compel merchants to take immediate delivery of goods at the ship's side whether storage is available or not.— (A. and X.Z.)
