VAUXHALL SCHOOL.
OPENED UV MR. C. .1. PARK. Yauxhall School, Devonport, was formally opeued by the Hon. C. J. Parr, Minister of Education, on Saturday afternoon. There was a large gathering of parents and friends, including members of the Borough Council, the Education Board, and others. Mr. .1. 1\ Buddie, chairman of the Devonport School Committee, who presided, said that the number of pupils enrolled at the school was close on the limit of 250. and that additions to Tlie premises might soon be required. Mr. 11. S. W. King (Mayor of Devunport) suggested that the parents and teachers might combine in an association for the welfare of the children. He presented to the «chool an autographic photograph of Viscount .lellicoe, which was one of. three he obtained from Lord .lellicoe in September. 1919. for tile three schools in Devonport. Mr. Parr, in declaring the school open, referred to various up-to-date featured in tiie building, such a.s the cross-ventila-tion of the class-rooms and t!ie larjre number, situation, and construction of tlie windows. Tlie Minister was then presented by the chairman with a "iiild key ac a memento of the occasion. After the formal opening the visitor* and children were entertained to afternoon tea by Mrs. 11. S. \V. KiiiL' and is number of otiicr ladie*. At the conclusion of the proceedings the Minister asked the chairman to grant the children a half-lmlidav in linn our of his visit.
