NATIONAL WAR MEMORIAL.

CONSIDERATION- POSTPONED. (By Telegraph. —SpeHal to '•Star.") WELLINGTON, this 'lay. The Minister of Defence informed a reporter to-day that Cabinet had considered the question or a national war memorial, and had decided to postpone further consideration till the recess. Quite a number of sites have been sU£«ested. but Ministers cannot at present inspect these in a body, and postponement of their decision is preferable to making a mistake in selection. A further reason for postponement is said to be that some of the sites are in the city, and it would be necessary to put a proclamation over the area. Thu the <Jovernment cannot do, as a war memorial is not a "public work'" within the meaning of the Act.
