VILNA'S EVACUATION.

DEMANDED BT LEAGUE. POLAND SUGGESTS PLEBISCITE. LONDON, October 15. M. Leon Bourgeois, on rnehalf of the Council of the league of Nations, has requested M. Padcreweki to inform Poland that unless ViXa is evacuated quickly the Council of the League of Nations will hold an urgent meeting to consider the grave situation which has arisen. The Polish Government states that it is prepared to express regret at General Zelignowski's action in occupying Vilna, but insists that a plebiscite shall be taken in Kovno and Vilna in order to settle their future rule. Poland will help General Zelignowski if he is attacked. Refugees who have reached Riga from Vilna deny that General Zelignowski's forces are Russian or Lithuanian Poles, and declare that they acted with intent to provoke a conflict with Lithuania.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
