REVENUE AND EXPENDITURE. "ttrELLIXGTOX, Thursday. The railway working account for the period from April 1 to August 21, is published in to-night's "Gazette." The revenue and the expenditure for the period, 20 weeks,.compared with the corresponding period of last year, were as follows:— . REVENUE. - 1020. inu. North Mand fl.lin.srtn £7-1.704 South Island 920,707 627,000 Totals £2,031.507 £1,383,394 The expenditure in the North Island was 79.05 per cent of the revenue, com- , pared with 65.65 per cent last year, I while in the South Island the expenditure was 90.46 per cent of the revenue, as against 71.72 per cent last year.
