SOME BELT.

At the work* of the Brick Tile. .Auckland, Ltd., situated at Avondale, this week, a now main drive belt was put into position for the .purpose of transmitting tile necessary power required to drive the large brick, pipe. tile, and lirebrivk machinery. This lx>lt discloses some interesting facts. On a careful calculation it was found that the belt. 02ft !>in lonpr by 18in wide, was comprised of 17.384 main links, which are held together by .100 steel pins, which are asrain kept in position by 1120 eteel washers. Each of these 17,:>54 links are composed of 250 separate links made of compressed paper, reinforced by 17.354 steel links, so that the total number of links used in the composition of the belt are no leRR than' 4,30.3.38-1. Tf theec links were disconnected and placed end to end singly they would ro from Auckland to Raurimu. On account of tho iiijjh quality of the double pressed bricks which the company are manufacturing it is confidently anticipated that they will go all over the Dominion.
