TO SAVE THE CHILDREN.
APPEAL OX.MONDAY. A meeting: of the Executive Committee of tlie Auckland "Save the Children" ■Fund was held at the Town Hall council chamber last evening, the chairman, Mr. H. P. Caughey, presiding. There were also present:—The Mayor, Mr. J. H. Guneon, Rev. TV: Cl^'MonektorrV , Messrs, A. S. Bank-art, Jas. Buttle, J. IR\ Court, and G. H. Fleming. A telegram received from the Internal Affairs Department stated that the Minister had decided to grant a permit for a general appeal being made ir| the Auckland district in aid of the fund for the relief of the distress among the women and children in the famine-stricken areas of Central ■Europe. It being stated that the Minister would not sanction bazaars, art unions, or street collections in connection with the appeal, it was resolved that an appeal jn the terms of the Minister's message be set apart on Monday next, continuing until June ;)0. Vbe fund will be remitted through the Internal Affairs Department free of cost to the High Commissioner, who will attend to its distribution. The appointment of a Government auditor to audit the accounts on the completion of the campaign was discussed, and it was decided to approach the Minister on this matter. The General Committee will meet at the Town Hall council chamber at 12.1.> p.m. on Thursday next.
