LDJKING UP BY WATER. (By Telegraph.— Own Correspondent) . HAMILTON, this d»y. A correspondent from Auckland \Bfi the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce ia 1 a letter to that body last night, to I» ': open the question of constructing Oat* I canals to vonnect Waikato, Manniw, ' Waitemata, and the Kainara. The writer urged the Chamber to arrange a etaia- ; ence on the matter, which he regarded as of the utmost importance to the iktricts named. Mr. A. L. Stephenson stated that th» people of the Waikato had been agitating for these canals for many ye*re, and had been successful in getting an "*" land waterways commission set up, but it was held up for want of personnel. It was decided to urge the Government to complete the personnel of the comfflia - sion ac early as possible.
