MR. FOW ELECTED,

HAMILTON, this day.

At a meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council held last night' Mr. J. R. Fow ■was unanimously appointed Mayor and Mr. \V. F. Mason Deputy-Mayor. Mr. J. E. Tidd was appointed to attend a conference of local bodies with respect to the proposed erection of a new bridge over the Waipa River at Whatawhata. The resignation of the electrical engineer (Mr. G. T. Wilson) was accepted It was decided to terminate the engagement forthwith and to pay his salary until July 31. ,

The Public Works Department advised that it would be necessary for the Council to enter into & contract for the supply of electric power from Horahora The matter was referred to the electrical committee, the Mayor remarking thai- it appeared power might be available from Horahora before April.
