GOVERNOR-GENERALS REPLY.

(By Telegraph.—Preße Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. The Governor-General received to-day the following message from Hie Majesty the King:—

Please thank the people of New Zealand for the farm-hearted and enthusiastic reception given by them to my eldest son throughout his visit to their beautiful islands, accounts of which have touched and gratified the Queen and mc. But we are not surprised, for wo preserve in our hearts imperishable memories of the loyal and affectionate welcome accorded to us in New Zealand 19 years ago. I know with what pride my son hae met a?ain the men of New Zealand's army, whose eallant deeds in the great war will live for ever in the history of the Empire.—GEOßGE R.l. Hie Excellency has dispatched the following reply to Hie Majesty:— On behalf of the people of this Dominion I desire respectfully to thank Your Majesty for your gracious message. I can assure Your Majesty that the spontaneous welcome which His Royal Highness everywhere received throughout these island) is symbolical of the intense loyalty which New Zealanders cherish for the Thr6ne and Empire. Hie comrades who served in the New Zealand Division have been proud to renew their acquaintance with the Prince of Wales, and furthermore, the children will never forget the manner in which his Royal Highness took every opportunity to meet them in order that tliey might share in the universal rejoicings.—Liverpool.
