INFLUENZA NOTIFICATIONS.

A CONSIDERABLE DECREASE.

' The Auckland, District Health zeturne shorn a satisfactory decrease in the number* of influenza notifications. Only a small' number of these moreover are severe.

The number of notifications for the twenty-four hours ended at noon to-day ie 42, of which 9 are severe. This ie a decrease'of 89 on yesterday's return for the previous 48 hours. The cases are distributed as follows:—City, S mild, 1 severe; suburbs, 19 mild, 4 severe; Waiuku, 2 mild; Te Aroha, 1 mild; Netherton, 1 severe; Paeroa, 1 mild, 2 severe; Thames, 2 mild; Te Kuiti, 1 severe. ALTERATION IN NOTIFICATION SYSTEM. . The Public Health Department are considering the advisability of eliminating mild influenza cases from the list of notifiable diseases.. This means that instead of cases being reported under the broad definition of influenza, only pneumonic septicaemic, and other virulent typee would be reported.
