SOLDIERS MOTHERS" LEAGUE.
I I .\ large meeting of the .Soldiers' Mothers' League was held in the Chamber of Commerce on Friday, the vicepresident, Mrs. Cox, in the chair. It was decided to send a letter to the Mayor protecting against the alleged mi.manaueinent attending the Anzac Service on the -2.lth ultimo., at the Town Hall. Also to write to the Board of Trade re profiteering. Resolutions were passed asking Parliament to appoint a Local Pensions Appeal Hoard; also that '• the meeting viewed with alarm the. I placing of more than two portfolios in the hands of nny i>ne Minister; that while a returned soldier had some claim io the country's consideration, it should not be made the hall mark for his entry I into ministerial rank. The meeting I strongly protested against the (itv 1 Council allocating itself the disputed right to grant itself free tram tickets while refusing disabled soldiers an undisputed right by virtue of their war wounds.
