A case of interest fo local bodies liasj occupied Mr. J. W. Poynton. S.M.. at the; Magistrate's Court this week, it being a.\ claim to recover damages for accident. The plaintiff, Mrs. Annie Mabe-i James (Mr. J. W. Dickson) sued the Auckland Harbour Board (Mr. R. M. McVeagh) 10 recover £100 as compensation for accident alleged to be due to the negligence; of the defendant or its servants. the. fact« were that Mrs. James went to attend a sale on the wharf, but insread of walking outside shed No. 14 went through it. and in doing so slipped on some oily snbstance, with the result that' she fractured her arm. It transp.red that Mrs. James did not know the proper way to go, but hearing someone in a peaked hat and overalls directing evidently another person to go through the shed, she went. The claim was ma_ up as follows:—'Nursing £30, loss of knitting work £20, costume £5, hospital; fe_ £5, doctor £5. and general damages! £35. Judgment was reserved* "■ !
