WAIKATO WEEK-ENDERS
CROWDING THE MAIS TRUNK. <By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) !HAiMJL.TON, this day. In connection with the Hamilton and other Waikato residents using the Main Trunk to return borne, especially on Sunday evenings, the position is getting so acute that tie Department contemplates making a. minimum fare, say, to Te Kuiti.. Speaking to a leading authority, it was pointed out to a "Star" representative thet there are seven trains by which country residents can come into town at the week-end, and the majority of people try to jamb into the Sunday evening's express to return home. Also thie applies to the weeknight trains as well. The other alternative to a minimum fare is to pat on a special fast train nightly to meet tic demands of the. Pnkekohe, Hmntly, Hamilton, Te Awamutu, Te Kniti, and Rotorua lines. This would make Ute Main Trunk a "limited" which is necessary for the comfort of the long-distance travellers. The official also pointed out that the midday Main Trunk train is not being supported at all.
