\ . (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) _ i WAIHI, this day. The Borough Council has received. a ' copy of the report of the commission . (Mr. H. A. Young, S.M.), appointed to " inquire in to the council's application for an area of land at Waihi Beach for, i camping and recreation purposes. He j recommends the acquisition of 09 acres'starting from ' the creek in <J. Vescy i Btewart's property, taking eight acres ' of that gentleman's land, and continuing ; thence along Mr. Shaw's property, in- jeluding the homestead and a portion i now being cut up for sale. The area , known as Waikino town is included, also.] all land on Mr. Shaw's farm on which i shanties Wave been erected with the ex-, ception of that on which a shanty owned., by Mr. J. Banks, stands The western : , boundary of the land recommended is, - approximately a continuation of the •. road line from the first swamp to a : ] point at the back of the hill on Mr.', -Stewart's property. Senior-Sergeant O'Grady, who , returned to Waihi yesterday afternoon j, from an official visit to AVnainramata,', reports that a shortage of water for , household use is seriously felt by resi- j. i dents in that locality. For the past • three or four weeks, water for domestic purposes has had to be conveyed on ' i 6ledges from neigfibourinfr sprinsß over, •. in many cases, very rough tracks. The ■ whole countryside is in a more or less' * i dried up condition, and settlers are , crying out for rain to renew drought stricken pastures.
