SUGAR SUPPLIES EASIER.
STANDARD FOOTWEAR. j BOARD OF TRADE IN AUC—LAND. The Board of Trade, comprising Messrs IJ. R. Hart. P. Hally, and J. W. Collins (secretary to the Board), is at present in Auckland on a brief visit in reference to sugar supplies throughout the> Dominion, and also with regard to the supplies of timber. The Board is also interviewing the whole of the local boot ; manufacturers with regard to the issue of licenses under the Board of Trade 'footwear scheme. This will complete a Dominion inquiry, and the Board will be lin a position on its return to Wellington to attend to the issue of licenses to! manufacturers of boots throughout the j Dominion simultaneously. It is ex- | pected that in the South Island, and probably also in Auckland, many of the manufacturers will have sufficient ' stocks on hand to supply retailers with I these boots in January. Samples and specifications of this footwear are to bo , I seen at the office of the Inspector of Factories and is open to inspection by any person interested. i With regard to the sugar supplies it is I stated that the position is very much easier than it was. The raw material is coming forward in considerable quantiI ties and the works at Chelsea are working to their full capacity. The stocks of the company in hand amount to praci tically nil, and the whole of the sugar iis being sent out as it is being refined.
