- Mr. James Carlaw, City Waterworks Engineer, left by the Niagara on a six weeks' health recruiting trip. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis R. Eady have • returned from a ten months' tour of ; Great Britain and the United States. ! Mr. and Mrs. John Tait arrived from ' Wellington this morning and are staying ! at the Grand Hotel. i Miss Laura Stone left by the express to-day to assist at the South Auckland Massed Choirs' concert at Hamilton ca Monday next. Mr. H. D. Heather, chairman of Auckland Harbour Board, may be forced to remain at home another week on account of bronchitis. Captain J. D. Holmes, of the Tunnelling Corps, who returns by the Arawa on "November lU, has been mentioned in dispatches. The Rev. Father O'Doherty, Mr. M. J. Sheahan, and the Hon. E. Mitchelson were passengers for Sydney by tha Niagara. Mr. Sheahan is the New Zealand delegate to the Irish Convention in Melbourne. Lance-Corporal H. E. Taylor, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. 11. Taylor, of Birkdale, is returning by the lonic. After seeing service in Germany and France he returned to London, married there, and is bringing his bride out with him. The lonic is timed to arrive in Auckland on Tuesday morning early.
