FIRE AT REMUERA.
• LIGHTED ASHES THROWN ON COAL. An outbreak of fire was discovered at 10.13 o'clock this morning in the fifteenroomed wooden residence at the corner of Remuera and Oinahu Roads, owned and occupied by the Hon. J. A. Tole, K.C. Some ashes thrown upon a heap of cqal in the back portion of the building caused the outbreak, which passed up the wall and came out above the stairs. The prompt action of the brigade confined the damage to the wall. The building was insured in the Royal Fire Insurance Office for £3,000, and the furniture in the South British for £1,180. The extent of the damage is estimated at between £2 and £3.
