FATHER O'DONNELL'S LOYALTY MR. HUGHES INQUIRING. (Beccivcd 12.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Father O'Donncll mentioned in cables ns having been arrested in Dublin on a charge of seditious utterances, belongs to Wynyard, Tasmania. Mr. Hughes, who has received a cable from Father O'Donncll protesting against his mnlicious arrest and threatened deportation to Australia without a chance of vindicating himself, says that he is astounded nt the arrest of Father O'Donncll, one of the most loyal citizens of the Empire in Australia. lie cannot believe that he did anything to warrant arrest. Mr. Hughes has cabled to the Secretary of State for the Colonies on the subject.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
