IRELAND'S PROBLEMS.
NEW ELEMENT IN VORTEX. SEPAEATIONIST METHODS. LORD FRENCH'S INDICTMENT. vßv Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 1.35 p.m.) LONDON, October 23. Lord French, speaking at Wallasey, said that the great difficulty in Ireland was due to the rise of a new element in the already complicated vortex of Irish politics. This element wants complete separation, nothing more or less. This so-called government, an illegal, insane body, possesses a secret army, called the Irish Volunteers. Attached to it are bodies of assassins whose business it is to commit outrage and murder upon any section of the community which questions its decrees. The result is a complete system of intimidation. The population is frightened into screening criminals, and the courageous, devoted efforts of the police have been rendered abortive. Lord French added that the Government was anxious to give full justice lo all classes and denominations in Ireland.—("Times.")
