CONFERENCE RESOLUTIONS. (By Telegraph.—Press Aesoclation.; WELLINGTON, Wednesday. ' The Public Service Association Conference was resumed this afternoon. The following resolutions were adopted:— "'That this conference disapproves ol the total substitution of matriculation for the Public Service senior examination, and that the examination be sal fer' nt the option of the candidate." "That all officers who have passed the matriculation ■ examination since. th( came was substituted for the Publii Service senior examination be granted the double increment, so they may not 'be at disadvantage with officers whe have passed the Public Service eenioi examination since that date, and have received the double increment." "That provision be made for taking the matriculation examination in sec tions." "That p. payment of a lump sum oi £15 be made to officers passing thf matriculation examination." "That the Public Service Commissionei be requested to provide that the application of any officer for promotion, special leave of absence, transfer, increase ir salary, or in respect of any other mattci affecting hia position in the service ma\ be made by the applicant himself to the Commissioner through the permanent head of his Department." "That whenever a confidential report is made on any officer reflecting on hi? work or general conduct, such report shall be shown to the officer concerned, who shall, if he so desires, be allowed tn make a copy thereof or take an extracf therefrom."'
