I The question of serving the City : Council with a legal notice demanding ' an efficient tram service for the district ' was discussed at a special meeting of j the One Tree Hill Road Board last even. ' ing. The chairman (Mr. Dobbie) said : the patience of the three combined local ; bodies concerned was exhausted. It wae I useless lo appeal to the council, ari ! they excused themselves on the ground lof the high prices now' ruling for tram I car;;. It was as reasonable, Mr. Dobbie j said, to suggest that people go naked because of the high price of clothing. ; The board was determined to use the 1 full power given under the deed of delegation to ■secure an adequate service. A resolution to have the legal notice served was carried unanimously. A claim to recover possession of a house from G. H. Siddle on the ground that the rent was in arrears for five months, brought by C. M. W. Williams (Mr. N. A. Campbell), was heard by Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., this morning." An j order for possession. was made to take I effect in a month. The question as to whether the rent which has accrued (amounting to £21 7/8) since the summons was issued should be included in the judgment has still to be argued.
