DISABLED MEN.

SPECIAL PENSIONS SUGGESTED. (By Telegraph. -Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Returned Soldiers' Conference considered a remit from Wellington, "That tho minimum pension be raise.d to 75/ wecklv for permanently disabled men." The Pension Committee recommended that the schedule of pensions for specific injuries of the War Pensions Act, 1917. be increased by the addition of "plus percentages up to 150 per cent, (that is, 00/ weekly), supplementary pensions and dependents' pension to be over and above such rate, and that dependent-' pensions be assessed at the present rate.'' The president (Dr. Boxer) said the principle of r' is percentages was adopted in the : ench army, because it was found impossible to gr de injuries. Mr. Andrews (Auckland) opposed the principle of supplementary pensions. He claimed that pensions should be granted ns a right. A [supplementary pension was rharit\', which returned soldiers did not want. Broken returned men had not received a fair deal, and it w,_i the Association's duty to protect them. Discussion was postponed.
