PERSONAL.
Brigadier-General \Y. L. H. Burgess, C.8., C.M.G., and D.5.0., returned te Wellington by last night's express. Mr. G. H. Buckeridge has been ftppointed Deputy Commissioner of B6y Scouts for Taranaki South. !Mr. W. McLeod, of Te Rehungtt, having sold out his farm is coming Xorth to have a look round. Brigadier-General Richardson, accompanied by Lieut-Colonel Avcry and Major T. McCrtstell, visited Hamilton to-day ' and came on to Auckland by train tin* evening. Dr. R. H. Mokgill, Acting-Chief Health Officer, was a passenger by the out-going express last night. The Rev. C. H. Olds, who has been appointed organising secretary of the Young People's Department of the Nβ. Methodist Church, is visiting Dunedin in connection with that work. Mr. OMs recently returned from Chaplain's duty at the front. At the conclusion of the Native Land Court at Kaiapoi recently, the natives presented Judge R. X, Jones, who has been made Chief Judge, with rug which had been manufactured in Kaiapoi, and was therefore distinctive of the South Island.
