Herr August Thyssen's rovelations were available in Entente countries nearly two years ago, but apparently they are only now being published in Germany. Thyssen, who is SU years of age, is one of tiie chief iron, i'oal, and steel magnates of Central Uermany. He controls the great Vulcan iron and shipbuilding yards, mid at the outbreak of war possessed huge iron works, mines, docks, and even harbours in British India and in other English colonial dependencies, as well as in Frame and Russia. His pamphlet was written to open the eyes of (iermany to the facts of the case. He stated that the HohcnZOllerns put their war ideas before German industrial leaders as a business proposition. He was offered, in return for his financial suport, a free grant of 30,000 acres in Australia and a loan of I £130,000 from the Deutsche Bank, at 3 j per cent, to enable him to develop busij ness in Australia. A syndicate was I formed for the exploitation of Canada, and the "conquest of England" was to be made the occasion of bestowing upon certain wealthy men some of the most desirable residences in Tiigland. Huge indemnities were to be levied, and the fortunate Germans were to be relieved fo taxation for yrg.rs after the war. Thyssen also stated that when in 1910 he refused to guarantee £200,000 to the next war loan, he lost his contracts and the greater part of his business was taken over at prices that meant confiscation.
