TAMAKI WEST LOANS.
(To the Editor.) I Sir,—T*ie Taimdri Weet Road Board seem to be seized with a mania fur kuCing polls far loans inetcad of calling a meeting of ratepayers to disease the various proposals before them. forget thai they are only the caretakera. of the affaire of the dietrict. The pro- 1 posal to borrow £9,000 for electric light' plant is a blunder. The cost of machinery and electrical appliances is too high to instal a small plant in a scattered die-1 trict like Tamaki West. It would be far cheaper to buy the light from the city electrical works if wanted, or if the ratepayers require light induce the Auckland Gae Company to run their gad mains through the dietrict; they are at the boundary now. Light and also beating will then be obtainable at the came time.—l am, etc., RATEPAYER.
