HOME SERVICE AITS THE GRATUITY.
(To the editor.) Sir, —"Last Post" suggests in dealing with the gratuity the formation of a Discharged Soldiers' Association. I would go a step further and urge him to call a meeting through • the of the Press inviting those interested to assemble at a given place. I am confident he would have a good following, and by adopting theee means would consolidate our cause, and the unity gained thereby could be used to some purpose. — I am, etc., VOLUNTEER. (To the Editor.) Sir,—Re Home Service volunteers, 1 enlisted early in the war, I wae passed fit, so sold up my home, and duly proceeded to caaip, to go on active service, as I though, but after foi?r months' training was transferred to "Home Service." I was a fit eoldier at the time, and did ray best to get away. I did nearly three years hard toil at Featherston Camp, and came out on demobilieation, with a month's wages, and no home, to look for a job. Mow, sir, if the gratuity was only for eokliers who had been in the firing line, I would say quite right, but when it comes to men getting the gratuity who have never done a day's war work, but on the other hand, got a trip to Engiund and back, not forgetting the many months' stay in England, well it's time the soldiers who worked nard on Home Service war work were recog nieed.—l am, etc., VOLUNTEER.
