CHRISTIAN SCIENCE.
(To 'he Editor.) Sir, —My attention hue just hcen drawn to "a lirief article in last Tuesday's "Star" headed "Healing by Faith," which purports to be an account of the lecture on "Christion Science' - given by Dr. Walton Hubbard in Auckland the previous evening. The heading is misleading in that it is not faith, as usually understood, that brings healing in Christian Science, but spiritual understanding. The; ; power that overcome* the "weaknesses ito which fleeh is heir" was stated to be the Divine mind and not the so-called human mind, as one might infer from the report. As an instance of faith in a ■■' doctor or a drug the lecturer cited a case ! of inflammatory rheumatism under medical treatment, but euch healing as may thus be brought about is quite different from that realised through Christian Science treatment. In the synopsis of the lecture published in another part of i Tuesday's "Star" your readers are given a correct view of what Christian Science is, and its application to the needs of mankind. —I am, etc., MADGE BELL. C.S. Committee on Publication, Auckland, October 16, 1919.
