PARLIAMENTARY ELECTION.
PROVISION FOR SOLDIERS' VOTES. <By XelesrapTi.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, Monday. Mr Massey moved the Expeditionary Forces Voting Bill, simplifying the system under which recently returned soldiers may vote in the coming elections. Replying to questions, the Premier eaid that practically all .soldiers would be returned by the date of the election. lie did not favour the system of voting for parties therefore any .systpin of soldiers' voting on transports would be impracticable unless the names of candidaters were available to the voters. He was not in favour of allowing waves of soldiers to vote without a qualifying period of one year's residence, as they had no knowledge of New Zealand conditions. The bill was read a second time, put through committee, and passed.
