P. and O. Deferred stock showed another advance yesterday afternoon, sales, being made at the third call at £590. At noon to-day sellers asked £600 and ■buyers offered £585. Colonial Sugar shares were in request to-day, Fiji issue "buyers advancing half a crown. Australian issue could now be placed at ■£ 25 10/, and Fiji at £20 12/6. .N.Z. Refrigerating were a little firmer, being wanted at £4 14/, while new issue sold at £ 1 5/. Talisman eharas advanced to sales at 10/6, at which figure more were wanted at the noon call. Waihi Grand Junction.—The report on ' the work done in the Waihi Grand Junction i mine for the period ended July 12 states , that at No. 8 ttevel the crosscut at 1000 ft eas.t cut a vein of quartz ISm wide, value • 4/7. No. 4 winze on the Empire is down 1 14ft, assay from 39in 5/10; .No. 5 winze down 7ft, value tl 3/10 for 40in in width; No. 6 winze down 91ft, value 6/3. .At No. : 5 level the -Mary lode ..ast assayed £2 2/1 I for a width of 52in. A branch lode into • the north wall assayed £1' 17/2 for 42in in width. On the completion of a drive about 190 ft in length the development of the 'Mary lode from the Junction boundary into the mine will toe resumed. Ohinenruri G. and S. Mines.—During the week ended September 13, the Camoola low level was extended 17ft; total' distance driven to date is 393 ft. The country track: Is of a hard nature to shoot. North block, Queen reef: No. 2 stope extended 7ft- reef, 4ft wide, is good general ore. Intermediate drive on footwall .portion Queen reef north of main rise advanced 6ft. Splendid ore is coming to 'hand from this section; rich tellnride is being selected from the general ore, which is also of a very high WAIHI RETURNS. £•25,01(3 FOR THE MONTH. The return from the Waihi mine foi the period ended September 6 was bullion valued at £ 25,016. the result of the treatment of 15532 tons of ore. This brings the total won from the Waihi mine to date up to £ 12,452,852.
