EMBARGO ON HIDES.

REPLY TO FARMERS' PROTEST.

(By Telegraph.—Press (Association.) *fc o _ T; ! • -r~- WELLINGTON, this day. ' Replying to the Fanners' Union protest regarding the constitution of tha Board o Trade in connection with the inquiry concerning hides, the Prime Minister says he has looked into the matter. The time available for the selection of delegates to the conference was very short, and consequently there was no other course but to send invitations direct. There was no intention whatever of not giving the fullest consideration in every way to farmers in the matter. Mr!'Massey adds: "Your protest against the embargo on hides being continued will be carefully considered."
