Brown, the Chief Poultry to-strut-tor, who has judged the birds at tin competition aceoiding to breed, quality and utility value, had a big contract, as it meant going into several In-dividual pens xo examine the bird-. _t e did Ms worlt tihoroughly, devoting several days to it. He found considerable difficulty in sortin* uheni out. -On the one hand mere was the special laying bird, weak in breed characters, and, on the other hand, birds of a fancy stiaiu, truer to hrccu type, but weak from a utility point ut view The principal thing that struck him, however was ithe want of uniformity in .the birdcoming from individual breeders. It was difficult to find a really uniform team. following are the positions in which he •placed nue different bird_: Black Orpington.—Best Single Bird, hi ?oTula B To a tl UOU: :■*■ * tUW>S ' (team Black 'Orpingtons.—Best Single Bird, placed iv following positions: A.
