THE CIVIC RECEPTION TO FOOTBALLERS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —I rend with astonishment a letter published in Tuesday's issue of your paper, signed '"Anti-Cheap Advertisement,' , which bitterly protests against the civic reception accorded by countrymen—the Australian Representative Footballers. As every sensible person must admit, this reception tendered to the visitors, only reciprocated the welcome that was, and always is, extended visiting representative teams to Australia. Possibly, if "Anti-Cheap Advertisement" will inquire closely, he will find pretty well all of the Australian footballers have voluntarily given their services for King and Empire. Your correspondent's letter casts a slur on Xew Zealand's natural courtesy to all visitors.—l am, etc., AUSTRALIAN GIRL.
