BIRKENHEAD V.M.C.A.
A very successful gymnastic disylay was given under the auspices of the Birkenhead V.M.C.A.. in the Zion Hall, Birkenhead, dust night, wben there was a large and enthusiastic audience. Mr. J". -W. Court, president of the V.M.C.A., occupied the chair. The display by the Birkenhead members was under the direction of Mr. Herbert 'St. Martin, -and included physical drill, club swinging, heavy bar'drill, high, and Jong jumping, and tug-of-war. • The exhibition of apparatus work by members of the Auckland V.M.C.A. was nnder the direction of Mr. Geo. Underwood. Vocal and instrumental items were contributed hy Messrs. H. F. Chesworth, 'R. Messenger, •Colin Peace, and Lloyd Peace, the accotnpaaist being Miss E. Ohappell. j Congratulatory remarks -were conveyed Do the Eirkenbead branch by tbe 'Mayor of Birkenhead (Mr. J. P. McPhail), who was aceompandert T>y members of the Birkenhead Borough Council.
