The action of the Railway Department in α-efraing under their ■•non-essential' clause governing travelling on the railway to issue a ticket beyond tihe suburban area t<j a porter on leave Ls very much resented by member* of the A.S.K.S. YVMe the man 'has six weeks , leave and a privilege ticket to travel he is prevented, according to the statements of the men, from taking a prusj pevtive holiday in Wellington. Farther J t.lmn this the men complain that men in 'similar positions who are on the "reliel" Jat Plankton Junction axe debarred from ! coming 'home to Auckland because the J Department says that it would not be i essential. Again, the men complain that when their holidays are due the Department books them oft", despite their applications to be permitted to take 'them later, when they might be able to tike advantage of their passes.
