■ . WELCOM-K TO REV. E. L. -AND 3LRS.J HARVIE. j A reception from the parishioners of St. Andrew's, Epsom, was last Friday i tendered to Rev E. L. and Mrs. Harvie.' and the hall, which was tastefully decorated, was completely filled.
The Rev. Dr. OT-allaghan presided, and in making the introduction spoke in high; terms of Mr. Harvie.'s work in Inglewood, 1 where he had been in charge for some ; time. I
Mr. A. J. Ehtrican, Deputy-Mayor, extended a warm welcome to the new vicar,! and Mr. H. Frost, as parishioners'l warden, followed on similar line. On the, platform were, the Revs. W. J. Shaw and VV. McDonald (Presbyterian), Rev. J. Wrigley (Methodist)," Rev. E. Chard; (Baptist.) and the late vicar of St.! Andrew's, Rev. John Wilkinson, of St. I Aidan's, Remuera. The. Ministers from the other denominations in the district| referred in the course of their remarks j to the subject of Church union, now sol much before the public. The late vicar assured his successor that he had come to a charge where he would get both! loyalty and devotion. ■
Mr. Harvie in the course of his remarks laid particular stress on the necessity and importance of interesting the younger members in the work of the Church.
During the proceedings Mrs. Harvie was presented with a handsome floral tribute, and Miss Clay, Mr. Reyburn, and Mr. Bouiilon rendered musical items, after which light refreshments were handed round.
