RAILWAY IMPROVEMENT.
STATEMENT BY FARMER. REGULAR THROUGH SERVICES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Sunday. Considerable improvement in the railway service is announced by the Prime Minister, Mr. W. F. Massey." He says it is hoped to continue the through services on the trunk lines regularly hereafter, opportunity being taken to utilise the return services in increasing the haulage of goods, particularly urtrent timber from the principal sawmilling areas. The coal position is still far from satisfactory-, and the extended facilities depend upon the present coa! position being maintained. There will be an additional passenger train from New- Plymouth to Wellington, connecting at Palmerston North -with"- the train from Napier on Tuesday, in view of the opening of Parliament. " ""
