AUCKLAND GRAMMAR SCHOOL
THE JUBILEE BAX.X* A GREAT SUCCESS. In connection witli the celebration of the Jubilee of the Auckland Grammar .School a most successful ball was held lust evening, under the auspices of the Old Boys' Association. Supper was prepared by the members of the Old Girls' Association, and provided on tables laid in v large marquee in the school grounds. Grammar School colours were used in the decorations of the supper tent, together with bunting and foliage. A liufl'et was also arranged on the first floor. The great assembly hall was used for dancing, and the floor was in excellent condition.
The platform was decorated with palms, daffodils, and blue iris blooms being also utilised to represent the school colours in the scheme. Amongst the ladies' dresses, blue was also the predominant colour. The onlookers in the gallery were impressed 'by the effectiveness of the scene on the floor. About 300 couples were present. The flanking, doors on three sides of the Assembly Hall were thrown open, and-many .couples danced in the passages. Kxtras were demanded, and the function did not terminate until 2 a.m. Chairs and tables for card parties were placed in the upper galleries, and the rooffiess balconies made a pleasant promenade for couples resting between the dances. 'Die final function in connection with the jubilee of the Grammar School was voted to i have been an unqualified success.
