I — T OFFICER'S STORY IN A DIVORCE SUIT. Evidence was taken in Edinburgh in an action of divorce by Captain James Keeble Haddow, Irrawnddy Flotilla Company, Maudalay, against Dorotby Irene Mumferd, Golders Green. London. Counsel said that t tip evidence of the pursuer, which was token on commission in Burma, was not vet forward. .John Iladdow (TL , ). father of the pursuer, said that the marriage look place in Burma In 1900. The pursuer brought his wife heme In 1010 nnd remained at witnesshouse for IS months, during which time the child of the marriage was born. The defender then went to London, and witness learned that she had been living there with another man. Witness informed his son, and the latter came home and In January, loir., witness took the child hock to his house, ami more recently learned that the defender had again been living with another man. and in conseqvence of this information the pursuer raised the present action. A young Army lieutenant or Blaekheath. giving evidence, said that when in hospital suffering from wounds ho mrt there a nurse who was known a.-. Mi* s Iladdow. She was a very good nurse, and they became friendly. Ho took her to his peop'e in London, and he became engaged to her, believing her to be a single woman Did you ask if she was single or married?—lt never occurred to mc then. A month or two arter leaving hospital I witness gave her a ring. In October. IMS. the defender gave birth to twins, of whom witness was the father. He i' ia ,i ascertained before the time of the birth that she Had been married, but she told him that this marriage, which took place in India while she was very young, was invalid. Lord Sands: Are you still together? Witness: We are still on very terms. " •> His lordship continued the case for further evidence.
