WAR MEMORIAL.
(To t ue Editor.) Sir, —In my mind whatever shape the war memorial takes it must be erected on as central a. site as possibltv-not in ja corner of the city. Also, it should 6tand on an elevated site where the greatest number of people can see it. Why not locate it in Auckland's beauti, ful Domain! My idea is 'that the whole |Of the Domain fronting Park Road up lto Carlton Gore Road should be set back jat ieast 100 ft from the west side of Park I Road. By so doing you will get one, if not the best, site in a part of the town I visited by country people city rcsi'denta alike. No doubt thousands like , myself noticed on Peace Saturday the congestion of traffic in this narrow roadway, which is anything but a credit to the city. The entrance to the Domain should be more in keeping with that of the Auckland Racing Club nt Green-lane, which does ithem grett credit. —I am, etc., 11. J. GENTLES.
