PAINTERS' DISPUTE.
NO FURTHER DEVELOPMENT. EMPLOYERS WILL CARRY ON AS USUAL. - There are no further developments at. present of the dispute between the master painters and the employees with regard to the payment of the basic living wage fixed by the Arbitration Court at 1/10 per hour. The men arc waiting till lo morrow afternoon when the pay <i:\elopos are handed round before they take any action. It is stated. howpvei*. that if the wages of one or two nun in a shop are below 1/10 all the men in that slu.p will give an hour's notice to cease work. The matter will then be further considered at a meeting of the union to be bold on Monday evening.
Speaking on the same question today Mr. P. T. Hired, president of the Master Painters' Union, said the employer- Intended to carry on as at present, and pay the two rate-! 1/8* and 1/10 per bom-, fixed by the Arbitration Court. Inquiries had I,een made by the members of the association among tin, men ami they found that practically no dissatisfaction existed and that the men were quite prepared to accept the two rate-.
