FAT STOCK MARKET.

PRICES RECEDE. TO-DAY'S WESTFIELD RATES. Prices for beef at to-day's Westfield fat stock sales were lower by 2/ per hundred pounds than last week's rates. ■> BUCKLAND AND SONS. Messrs. Buckland and Sons again had a large yarding, the total being 357 head. While the quality as a whole was not up to last week's standard, there were several lots of very good cattle. Choice ox sold up to £3 3/ per 100 lb, prime from £2 18/ to £3 2/, plain and rough beef £2 8/ to £2 14/, cows and heifers £2 5/ to £2 16/.. Steers ranged in price from £14 to £28 15/, and cows from £8 to £2.1 5/. CALVES. Messrs. Buckland and Sons reported an extra, large yarding oi calves, fat and young ones coming forward in extra large numbers. Runners were slightly easier in price. All other classes '-"emained about the' same as last week's rates. SHEEP. Messrs. Buckland and Sons reported that sheep in scarcely average numbers sold under keen competition at increased prices. Extra heavy wethers made from £.2 12/ to £2 17/6. One small pen of these reached the high price of £3 9/. Heavy prime wethers sold from £2 7/ to £2 11/9, medium from £2 2/ to £2 6/9, light £1 18/ to £2 1/9; no extra heavy ewes were penned. Heavy prime ewes made from £1 18/ to £2 3/6, medium prime ewes from £1 13/ to £1 17/6, and light ewes from £1 7/6 to £1 12/9, and finished ewes from £1 2/ to £1 6/9; hoggets penned in average numbers also sold to high values. Best made from £1 12/ to £1 17/, while one extra choice hogget fatted by Miss Ruth Gothorpe, Brookbv, realised £2 15/6. Medium hoo-gets" made from £1 8/ to £1 11/9, and small from £1 4/ to £1 7/6. NEW ZEALAND LOAN COMPANY. The New Zealand Loan Company penned beef in scarcely average numbers. Competition was not so keen, prices being slightly easier. Choice ox sold up to £3 4/ per 1001b, prime from £2 18/ to £3 2/, rough and inferior from £2 10/ to £2 16/, and cow and heifer beef from £2 12/ to £2 17/. No extra heavy cattle were yarded. Steers sold from £16 to £24 17/6, cow? aud heifers from £9 10/ to £16 5/.
