THE PRICE OF MEAT.
KAILWAYHEN'S PROTEST. /The representations of the Master Butchers' Association to the Board of Trade for permission to raise the wholesale price of meat was the subject ofa protest passed by the Auckland Kailwaymen's Labour. Representation Com-; mittee yesterday. The matter was d:ecus3ed at a meeting of the committee, and the following resolution was carried unanimously:-' I i "That this meeting protests against any ' attempt on the part of the Auckland butchers to influence the Board of Trade to allow the price of meat to be raise 3 to the public, when it is known hundreds of thousands of carcases are held in cool storage in New Zealand, and it is further known that thousands of-., carcases have been exported from Southdown freezing works to overseas markets during Fast week."
