The influenza position continues to improve, the deaths yesterday numbering five, while the new cases are steadily declining. The banks and Telegraph .Department are resuming normal conditions—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) LONDON PEACE GALA. POCH AND PERSHING TAKE PART. LONDON, July 16. Marshal Foch has accepted an invitation from Sir Douglas Haig to participate in the peace celebrations in London. General Pershing, Commander-in-Chief i of the American forces, has arrived in London. He will march at the head of the American contingent on Saturday. (A. and N.Z. Cable.) SYDNEY'S CELEBRATIONS. PARADE AND PAGEANT. (Received 12.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The last touches are being put on the preparations for the peace celebration, which promises to be worthy of the occasion. Saturday's chief items will be a <reat parade and pageant by the naval and military forces, the regatta, and the illuminations, including warships.
