KOLCHAK'S RETREAT.
FAR BEHIND EKATERINBURG. ANOTHER YEAR Or FIGHTING | (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 5.30 ajn.) LONDON, July 16. Admiral Kolehalrs army is evacuating Ekaterinburg, east of the Ural Atotu* tains, retreating far to the rear. Another year's fighting will be neces sary before he will be able to read Moscow. — IA. and N.Z. Cable.) A Bolshevik wireless message says: <-TYe have occupied Ekaterinburg."—(A and NZ. Cable.) Kolcbak made a very rapid advanct from Omsk along the trans-Siberian rail way to the Ural mountains, and thei dividing his forces he swept north-wesl and south-west to the Volga line al Saratoff and Vyatka, crossing the rivei at Simbursk. Here large Bolshevik forcewere mustered against, him, and hi: advance was held up for a month. Thei tie Bolsheviks counter-attacked, anc Kolcbak, far from his base and very short of supplies, was forced to retreai on Ufa. Another check here forced i second retreat, and he has now evidently withdrawn the major portion of hii forces from Russia. The extension o the Bolshevik line will enable Kolchal to solidify his defence until he is rein forced and able to resume the offensive The retirement will not greatly affeci General Denekirrs campaign, as the twc forces were working independently throughout the campaign, and Denekin'i rear is now entirely clear as far as th< Black Sea.—(United Service.)
