BAPTIST GATHERINGS.
A larpe audience assembled at the Tabernncle last night In connection with the Baptist Auxiliary annual sessions. Rev. A. Anstiie, the new president, occupied the chair. A primary class demonstration was given by the youngest children of the (Jrange ICoad Baptist Sunday school, under direction of Miss Doris Gaze. The children, who were well disciplined, evinced much interest in their exercises and lessons. The Hecoiifl part of the evening was occupied by an address from Mr. M. W. V. I.ascellcs, president N.Z. Baptist Union, who recently visited the Baptist mission stations in Kast Bengal. He spoke of the personal Influence of the missionaries and generally referred to the bright side ot the work. Many statistics were quoted of the viistness of India as a field for evangelical enterprise, and it was shown that the Christians, though only one and a quarter pert cent, of the population, were increasing at 0 far greater ratio than followers of Hinduism, Buddhism, or Mohammedanism. He roiidiided by speaking of the good work of the leper missions, and urged more hearty support by gifts and prayer for the great needs of India. The auxiliary week h.is been one of the most successful yet held, and has been a time of help andinI splration m> all the visitors and delegates.
