South British Insurance buyers advanced their offers to £7 17/6, but no sales resulted, as sellers wanted £8 3/-- Standard Insurance shares changed hands this morning at £2 17/-. and Northern Steam, ut 16/-. The crushing returns from the Consolidated Group of Mines, Reef ton, for the month of May are as follows: — Progress.—Crushed 1680 tons, value £1680: working expenses. £2090; capital. £1S; development. £84. A parcel of SScwt. of selected ore shipped to Cockle's Creek has been sold to the Sulphide Corporation, Ltd.. for £176 9/8. The manager reports that during the fortnight ended May 31 the main line of air pipes was completed and connected witu the air compressor. The Camoola pipe lino has been laid and securely braced the fill I distance of 2.37 C feet, and connected with the air receiver. The ventilation and water pipes have been completed in the Camoola level. The managing director, who visited the baring a trial run made with the new power plant, reports that, this was satisfactory in every respect. The air compressor put up a pressure of Ssil> to the square inch through the full length of pipes and three sure was maintained throughout, indicating that no loss was occasioned by friction in transmission through over a mile of pipin" The main pipe line successfully withstood a pressure of 11011) to the square inch The lame air compressor is capable ot supplying ample power to adequately run the rock drills at the various working points throughout the mine. Drilling tests were carried out in the Camoola level by Mr. Wm. Walker, representative in NewZealand for the Denver Rock Drill Company, who expressed himself highly pleased with results.
